Strengthening Metropolitan Governance

My list

As cities manage their immediate response to the COVID-19 pandemic and are looking ahead to plan and resource long-term recovery efforts, we need, more than ever, common solutions and win-win agreements between different levels of government and sectors of society. How to overcome the challenge of inter-jurisdictional coordination in dealing with the pandemic? What are the strengths and limits of different models of metropolitan regulatory frameworks? Will this public health crisis accelerate and strengthen metropolitan Governance architectures? This session explores how responses at different levels of Governance during the height of the Covid-19 crisis reinforce the need for territorially integrated approaches to sustainable urban development and shares different experience and actions being undertaken during the crisis.
